When you present your plan ID card to your in-network provider, they file the claim with Golden Rule Insurance Company, and they send the benefit payment to them. The provider will apply the payment toward the amount you owe for the service provided. This, in addition to the network discount, helps to reduce your final bill and lowers your total out-of-pocket cost. If the eligible benefit payment is more than the cost of coverage, even after the discount, you will receive the difference mailed to you as a check from Golden Rule Insurance Company.
This is a supplement to health insurance and is not a substitute for the minimum essential coverage required by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Lack of major medical coverage (or other minimum essential coverage) may result in an additional payment with your taxes. This fixed indemnity insurance product provides benefits in a stated amount regardless of the actual expenses incurred.
